KIDS MUSICAL THEATRE AT
MULTICULTURAL LEARNING CENTER
*You must be enrolled at the Multicultural Learning Center to participate.
We are now enrolling students from MLC for our Fall/Winter After School Program. Our Kids Musical Theatre Program caters to kids in 1st-5th grade. The kids will audition for roles in Mary Poppins. Each student who enrolls will be cast in the show. Enrollment is limited. Read more below for details.

GRADES: 1st-5th
EXPERIENCE: All kids are encouraged to participate
REHEARSALS:
Tuesday: 2:30-4:30 pm (Beginning November 14th)
SHOW WEEKEND:
March 1-3 or March 8-10, 2024
HOW DO AUDITIONS WORK?
Once you register above, you will receive a confirmation with the audition materials attached. You will pick one song to sing for our directors. We will be accepting video auditions for this show. All auditions will be due by Saturday, November 11th at 6 pm.

CASTING
Each performer who enrolls will perform one cast in age-appropriate lead, featured, or ensemble roles.

SESSION CAPACITY
We are able to enroll 25 kids into the program. The first 25 kids to register will be considered for all available roles. A waitlist will open after the first 25 kids are enrolled.

AUDITION FAQ
Date: Video auditions are due by Saturday, November 11th at 6 pm. If no video is sent, you will be cast without auditioning. See further instructions below.

What to prepare for auditions:
1. Pick one of the audition songs provided (when you register).
2. Practice that song for your audition. It does not need to be memorized and you can use the sheet music/lyrics in the audition with you.
3. You will play the music from a device and sing along with it.
4. Casting will be based on your audition. So, please be prepared to SHINE!

WHAT HAPPENS IN REHEARSALS?
Kids will work in an interactive and creative environment where they will be taught singing, dancing, acting, and choreography specific to Mary Poppins Jr.
WHO TEACHES THE KIDS?
Our program is run by our Artistic Director, Jessica Alexander, (MFA Acting, New School University), directed by Jaya Ely, and supported by a number of directors and choreographers who are skilled in various aspects of theatre and performance.

SAFETY AND MORE:
Safety is a main priority within the Class Act program. Class Act adheres to a detailed code of conduct that will be shared with all participants. It is important to us that all participants feel safe during rehearsals and performances.

MORE ABOUT CLASS ACT:
Class Act is a year-round theatrical program and non-profit theatre with ties to the San Fernando Valley since 1985. Our core musical theatre program is run out of Woodland Hills, where we produce three children's musicals every year. Our philosophy behind children's theatre is for everyone to have fun, feel included, and have their moment in the spotlight.
