Virtual Musical Theatre Summer Camp

Class Act is offering a unique creative experience through the Virtual Musical Theatre Summer Camp. Students will engage in an 8 week History of Musical Theatre with Three 90 minute online classes each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). The classes will include Musical Theatre Dance, Monologue/Scenes, Ensemble Singing, Musical Theatre History, Theatre Makeup, Tap Dance, and 16 bar cuts. The camp is led by Class Act's Program Director, Ally Mulholland (AMDA Graduate), and will feature instruction by Jessica Lauren, Melanie Mockobay, Faith Carrion, Emilee Gorski, and others!

Musical Theatre History/ Ensemble Singing
Each class will follow a different time period of Musical Theatre history from the Golden age of musicals (1940’s-60’s), to the emergence of “Fosse” (60’s-80’s) all the way through the 2000’s and what the theatre world is creating today. At the end of each class everyone will learn a vocal ensemble number from the time period discussed that day.
Musical Theatre Dance
Learn kid friendly original Broadway choreography to the ensemble song you learn previously in the week! Anything from Oklahoma to Mama Mia to Wicked.
Tap Dance
Focus on the basics of tap with one of the best tap dancers in Los Angeles!
Theatre Make-up
Learn how to execute theatrical makeup styles through the decades with a professional makeup artist. (Some materials will be needed)
Monologue/Scene
Work on assigned scenes and monologues. Each scene or monologue assigned will be from a different time period correlating with what we have learned and discussed in musical theatre history that week.
16 Bar Cuts
Work on assigned 16 bar audition cuts of songs. Each song assigned will be from a different time period correlating with what we have learned and discussed in musical theatre history that week.
